Grandvalira ski resort
Grandvalira is a resort located in Andorra which covers the skiable areas of two of Andorra’s seven “parishes” (or provinces).
Grandvalira is one resort consisting of seven different sectors
It was founded in 2003 when two of the Pyrenees oldest resorts, Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig / Encamp (founded in 1956) and Soldeu / El Tarter / Canillo (founded in 1964), joined together. This fusion gave rise to the largest resort in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe with 215 km of ski run spread over a total of 140 slopes of all different levels, and the creation of one single ski pass to enjoy all the skiable territory. It is in 2019 when the new Peretol sector is created, and with this the union with the rest of the ski resort.
Over its years of history, Grandvalira has seen important investment more than one hundred million euros spent on increasing the amount of skiable kilometres, renovating and increasing the network of ski lifts (the resort is now capable of handling more than 100,000 skiers/hour, meaning that lines at the lifts are now a thing of the past), improving the network of snow cannons (meaning that over 66% of the entire territory can be covered in artificial snow if required) and on broadening the range of activities the resort has to offer making it the best place to enjoy après-ski.
